What Are You Passionate About?

Being a Christian is something I am very passionate about, but I am not one to memorize scriptures.  You know the type I am speaking about.  I don’t have anything against those folks but quite honestly I choose to share my passion in other forms.

My ‘AHA’ Moment

245834_worship_handsDo you ever get those moments?  You know, when something hits you and you say to yourself, AHA!!

If you have been following my posts, you will notice that I write a lot about families, parenting, children, my faith, and several tips, including homeschooling.

I began to pray and truly listen to the Lord..I wanted to know how I could continue my mission of helping others.

That’s when it hit me…yes, my ‘AHA’ moment, which was actually the Lord speaking and me hearing Him.  He always talks to us, but many times we are so busy, that we don’t stop to truly listen.  I’ve been working on my listening and that is when I felt it in my heart.

Why Families Matter

The deep calling that I feel which is leading me closer and closer to family ministries is easily understood with this passage I came across:

In the 1950’s, kids lost their innocence. They were liberated from their parents by well-paying jobs,

cars and lyrics in music that gave rise to a new term – the generation gap.

In the 1960’s, kids lost their authority.  It was the decade of protest – church, state, and

parents were all called into question and found wanting.  Their authority was rejected,

yet nothing ever replaced it.

Wow, I am truly blessed! Do you ever wake up and realize how incredibly blessed you are?  I just had one of those days…I mean, I know that I am blessed but today was somewhat different.

It all stemmed from watching my first baby graduate, and now preparing to move out on her own (with a roommate) and preparing for college.
I can still remember her in diapers; watching me with those eyes of admiration.  Now it is I looking at her with eyes of admiration and amazement.

dscn5533Wow!! Never thought this day would come, but we had our first graduate!  We are so very excited and proud of our child and ourselves.

Home schooling was a venture my husband and I decided to encounter 12 years ago and by the grace of God were we able to maintain our sanity and continue.  We now have 1 graduate and 4 more in the wings.  Never did I think I would be home schooling my children, but the Lord definitely had a different plan for me.
