He Spoke to Me

Today while listening to the sermon at our church, I felt like the Lord was speaking to me. The sermon was on Psalm 63 and was written about David and his journey through the ‘wilderness’.

The wilderness can be many things. It can certainly be the forest, jungle or woods, but it can also parallel our lives. The wilderness can be what we live through on a daily basis. It can be sickness, injuries, crisis, death of a friend or loved one or that of financial woes. It can also be a combination of more than one crisis.

The Psalmist mentions how David was faithful and throughout his journeys and crisis he relied on God. His heart ached for God, he had ultimate trust in God. He praises Him and his soul clings to Him.

Remember David had a rough time but his faith always prevailed. His faith was one that had him succeed against Goliath as a young boy and he continued to be faithful.

The pastor mentioned how David remained faithful through the nights when fear normally would set in. David would meditate on the Lord and his faith would bring him through the darkness.

Fear is an open invitation for Satan to enter our lives. We must hold onto the Lord as David did and have ultimate faith in Him.

It is difficult to remember when we are experiencing heart ache and financial difficulties, but somehow our faith pulls us through. The nights I have laid awake at night because of the overwhelming stress was just the invitation that Satan had longed for. Although my faith is strong, Satan always finds our weaknesses.

This sermon was an awakening for me. I know that the Lord will always watch over us and we must be faithful, through the good and bad times. We must be thankful for what we have and rejoice in His name. We must be steadfast in our faith and love for Him and know that the rough times will be few and far between. What may be rough and difficult for us is nothing compared to what others may be experiencing. We must be thankful for our lives, health, our families and for having a loving and faithful Father.

We must rely on the Lord and not let evil overtake us and our thoughts for it will weaken us. We must trust in the Lord and He will give us the strength needed to fight all that is weak and make us strong.

The Lord will help us walk through the ‘wilderness’ with joy. Amen.

The Chronicles continue…
