There are different learning styles and I have discussed Kinesthetic and Visual, today we will focus on the Auditory Learner.
How do you know if you have an auditory learner?
Well, first let’s describe an auditory learner.
An auditory learning remembers best what they have learned by hearing the information.
Auditory learners will sometimes:
- read out loud to themselves
- talk to books, movies or the television when involved in the story line
- hears the story in their mind when they read
- will sit in lectures and listen rather than take notes

My last post was about kinesthetic learners and today we will focus on Visual learners. This topic is not difficult for me because I can classify myself as a visual learner.
A visual learner is one that needs to see pictures to connect what they are learning.
Do you have a child that jumps on your lap while you are reading a story?
This child is looking for pictures to connect with the words you are saying. This child is also looking at the words and getting more familiar with the pronunciation and how it is spelled.

There are three different types of learners; auditory, visual and kinesthetic. Today I will be focusing on kinesthetic learners.
Kinesthetic learners are often misunderstood but hopefully I will shed some light to make the teaching of these learners a bit easier.
Unlike the visual learner that needs to see pictures and takes notes and the auditory learner that learns by listening the kinesthetic learner can not sit still. I was particularly interested in learning about this type of learning style because two of my children find it extremely difficult to sit still when I am teaching.
Home School Ideas for Pre-Schoolers

I have been a home school mom for over 10 years and love it! I am always looking for ideas to make home schooling fun for my children. Since I have a 5 year old that I officially began home schooling, thought I’d share some fun tips. I have been teaching him all along but he thinks he’s a ‘Big Boy’ now since he now has his own books.
I have 5 children so organization is extremely important. We have a room that is a our designated ‘classroom’ which has book shelves, computer area and table for reading and writing. I also purchased some plastic drawers to house their everyday books and art supplies. Each child has their own drawer and it helps keep things very organized.
Make Nature Your Classroom

Many times parents feel that they should have a room in there home designated as a classroom and all will be well. Although that may be the case it is not entirely necessary. I for one have a ‘classroom’ but it basically houses all our books, games, and homeschooling materials. My children manage to follow me around the house and never sit at the table in the ‘classroom’.
What we have determined is that our children love nature and use that as our ultimate classroom. Some children love to draw and mine do, so I have nature journals for each of them. The nature journals are simple notebooks that each child decorates to make their own and then are used to record their experiences in nature.
