Rainy Days
Family Moments, Home School Tips — By Dr. Mommy on February 1, 2010 at 4:03 pmAs a home school mom, we love our sunny days because the children can go out to release energy as well as explore the outdoors. My little guy especially enjoys hunting for bugs and worms, oh yes, he is All-Boy
So, you can imagine when rainy days come and they are not allowed to go outside to explore. That’s where Mom’s creativity has to kick into gear. Thankfully my children love to create, so we have plenty of art and craft supplies. I love to watch the draw, paint and create. It is wonderful to watch their imaginations sore. Once the crafts are over, they move onto bigger explorations within the house. The living room soon becomes a huge tent, with sheets and blankets covering any and every piece of furniture. Oh, and I might add that my older children enjoy this activity just as much as the young ones.
While they are reading or playing music in their gigantic tent, I take advantage and create snacks and treats for them to enjoy. As they enjoy their treats, I have a moment to look over our menu for the week and make certain everything is in play for dinner. I also have a moment to go to the computer and enjoy my favorite past time, writing. If you are not aware, I not only home school my children but I have several online businesses as well as an offline Chiropractic office with my husband. I am so blessed to have the opportunity to home educate my children and have a home with our office attached. Oh and by the way we designed it that way in order to have time to spend with our family.
Our rainy day continues with playing outside in the puddles. It’s funny how we never outgrow that activity. Once the children are bathed and clean then they sit and read or complete their other schooling assignments. Soon after Dr. Daddy and I are finished in the office and family time begins again with dinner and ends with a movie and popcorn.
We enjoy our rainy days and sunny ones too for that matter. We simply enjoy any day we can spend quality time together. This is how we spend our rainy days, how do you spend your rainy days?

I think it is a challenge to keep my son from getting bored. Of course, there are video games, but I was never raised to rely on that. I learned crafts and hobbies. So, I like to keep coloring books, some learning books, as well as different crafts. Right now I have been trying to teach him how to do animal shapes with the piping. It is fun.
By the way, I work as a virtual assistant of The Healthy Moms ( http://www.thehealthymoms.net ), the site is fairly new and I thought I would drop by some mom related sites to spread the word.
