Puzzle Time
My Chronicles — By Dr. Mommy on January 8, 2010 at 8:58 pm
Although the children have televisions in their rooms, they never spent time watching them, they were always in the living room watching the big television. I found myself monitoring the time they were watching and was quite successful, but not as successful as now. Amazing what kids will entertain themselves with when they have no other choice.
Our family has always been one to play games and build puzzles but nothing as much as now. It’s actually wonderful! We have built 2 puzzles in the last 3 weeks. One was 1000 pieces and was not too difficult. The last one we completed was 1500 pieces and very challenging. You can see the finished products on the picture slide on the front page of this site. You will notice we have started on a new puzzle which in my opinion is quite annoying. Why do they make puzzles so difficult?? But more importantly is why are we still attracted to it?? Perhaps because we are a bit insane and competitive but nonetheless, we are having a blast. It’s great getting the children involved, and I mean all the children from the youngest aged 6 to the oldest aged 18.
What activities are you doing with your family to reduce the television time. I must admit that the breaking down of the television was a blessing, but again, they still have their own in their respective rooms and still would rather play games and build puzzles. Now, if the weather would cooperate, they would play outdoors, but for now we remain indoors building jigsaw puzzles. Fun times building fun memories!
