Finding Peace Amongst the Chaos
Faithful Chronicles — By Dr. Mommy on July 13, 2009 at 1:29 pm
The world itself has become more chaotic, and with the introduction of computers, and electronics, it seems to be getting worse. Computers were first introduced to make our lives easier and cut our work load in half. But in actuality, that concept has been easily forgotten since now we think we can get twice the work done in the same time frame.
With the introduction of newer and faster electronics such as computers and cell phones, we find ourselves trying to keep up with it all and therefore find ourselves caught up in the chaos.
Here are a few tips that work for me, when I find myself spinning in the chaos:
- Take breaks and breathe - It is so important to take breaks throughout the day. Even if it is just to walk around and stretch or walking outside for some fresh air, that is all you may need to clear your mind. If you have extra time, perhaps a soothing bath will ease your mind. It is important to find some time to relax, and enjoy the peace and quite time and reflect on the events of the day.
- Prayer and meditation – This is one of the things that brings me the most inner peace. Finding a quiet place to pray and meditate brings a sense of peace throughout my body and is a wonderful way to start and end your day. You don’t have to sit in an awkward position and chant to meditate. Simply sitting in a comfortable chair, closing your eyes and controlling your breathing will help you escape from the craziness of the world. Praying is something that I do only on a daily basis. I always find time to talk but mainly listen to my Heavenly Father who always puts my mind as ease.
- Think positive – In the midst of the chaos, it may be difficult but you need to try to stay positive. Thinking negatively will only make things worse and increase your stress levels. It’s not that difficult it can be as simple as a favorite song, a picture or my favorite a smile that can change your mood to the positive.
- Slow down - Multitasking is something we all do, and if you are a mom, you know exactly what that means. However, multitasking can actually wear you down faster and just add to the chaos around you. Instead do one project at a time and do not begin another until the first one is completed. While you may be able to handle three or more things at once, the quality won’t be nearly as good as if you focused on them one at a time.
- Stay away from the drama - Remove the drama from your life, you know what I mean. It is not necessary and will not accomplish anything. It will however increase your stress levels, which none of us need. Focus on solving your concerns positively rather than enjoying pity parties. This will reduce the drama and turn your focus to something positive.
- Surround yourself with positive people – Remove yourself from those that will only depress you or get you involved in their negativity. Surrounding yourself with positive people will not only be more refreshing but will be healthier for you in the long run. Who wants to be around people that are always depressed, put on a smile and be happy and you will attract positive people to you.
Everyone has some chaos in his or her life. It isn’t always a bad thing. Stress can be productive as well. In fact, without stress and responsibilities, some people would never get out of bed!
What is important to keep in mind is how you will handle the stress and problems. The method of how you react will dictate the level of chaos in your life.
Remember to take care of yourself and find time to relax. You will be of no use to anyone else if you life is full of chaos. Try the tips I mentioned above and watch the peace come amongst the craziness we call life.

These are great tips – ones I need to implement myself!
It is so easy for as to forget that we are not machines and we need food and rest, we need peace of mind and some silence. We want to do it all fast, at the same time and perfectly every time. Thanks Doc for reminding us of these basic points.
Blessings,
Liseth
