This will be the first in a series of Family Moments.  I will be posting small tips that involved the family in regards to parenting, teens, marriage, general family life, kids and our culture and so much more.  I hope you enjoy these family moments.

Today’s family moment involves teens. –  Is your teen ready for the ‘real world’?

There will come the day that your teen will be going out on their own, whether it be moving away for college, or simply moving out.  Is your teen ready?

Every child/teen should know the basics for survival in the real world: laundry (sorting whites and colors), cooking a simple meal, cleaning their homes and most importantly handling their finances.

If you child does not know how to do any of the above, it may be time for a crash course.  Sorting laundry, washing whites in hot/warm and colors in cold.  Teach them how to make simple, yet healthy meals.  And as mentioned above, teach them how to manage their finances, write checks and clip coupons.  Creating a budget will help them in the ‘real world’.

Is your child ready? The time to teach them is now, don’t let them learn the hard way, that is just setting them up for failure.
