They Grow So Fast!

As I sit here in my cozy bed on a chilly Saturday morning, I realize how quickly my babies grow!  Laying beside me is my youngest who will be 6 years old this year and watch him sleep and yes, even snore.  I can still remember going to the hospital 3 times a day to see him in the NICU, and him weighing only 2 pounds.  He is definitely my ‘miracle baby’ and to think they suggested that awful choice, which of course I was not about to consider!!  He is an amazing little boy and makes me smile and laugh every single day!

I never in my wildest dreams think I would have 5 children and now having one graduating this year, makes it all the more surreal.  I can remember each pregnancy, each first smile, first word, first step as if it were yesterday.

I am so very blessed to have the opportunity to teach, guide and love these precious gifts until I must let them go.  Am I ready?  Ummmm, nope! But I know that the time will come to let go and let them experience life and start a family of their own one day.  I now realize the pain in my mother’s eyes the day I left to go away to college.  She was sad and proud all at once.  I turned out okay and I know that my kiddos will too… No one said it would be easy!

So, until that time comes, I will cherish every moment.  Enjoy both the good and the bad times and continue to instill values in them to prepare them for the days ahead.

Wow, they grow so fast!!  I am blessed and keep reminding myself of that everyday!

Our children do grow fast and so do our grandchildren! The enjoyment continues on.

  • You will never have an empty nest. With that many kids, you will have grandkids galore. My own twins are 21 and about to graduate college as are most of my nieces and nephews. Thanksgiving and other major holidays are very crowded and filled with laughter. My own mom who hasn’t had a kid living at home since 1984 always has a visitor or is babysitting someone has more mom work today than when I was living there. The memories will continue to grow for you too I’m sure.

That’s how I feel about my children and I haven’t even had any yet. You are blessed with an outlook that not enough mothers have about their children. Writing about it is a good way to spread the idea, though. Congrats
