My First CVS Adventure
Tips — By Dr. Mommy on November 10, 2008 at 10:00 pm
My first task was determining what I wanted to purchase and if I truly needed it. I didn’t want to just purchase it because I had a coupon, I truly wanted to either stockpile or use it now. So, I pulled out my CVS circular from the Sunday paper and went to work. After several hours, I realized I needed help. I logged into my account on The Grocery Game, which is fantastic! If you are not aware of The Grocery Game, you must check it out. It is a great way to save money and she actually supplies a list with items to purchase with coupons and savings. It is a definite time saver.
I logged into my account and printed out the CVS list and studied it along with my coupons and my own list of necessities. I calculated what I could purchase to gain Extra Bucks. Extra Bucks are equivalent to money you can return to the store and use for more purchases. So, my mission began. Once I had taken notes, highlighted my list and determined my strategy my next step was to go to the actual store.
Today, I walked into my local CVS store with a plan and mission. I was determined to walk out of that store with goodies and Extra Bucks!! It took me about 30 minutes, because I had a list and special pouch with my coupons. My total amount spent was $38.62..my savings was $33.71 and I earned $17.09 in Extra Bucks.
I can now return to the store with my Extra Bucks and purchase more with out actually spending a dime, or as I understand it I can actually use them on other purchases to gain more Extra Bucks. As I mentioned this was my first trip of many. I am sure I will figure out the system soon enough. But all in all, I was very proud of my first trip and my Extra Bucks!! Today was a good day!
The Chronicles continue…

Good job. I’ve learned in just 3 short trips that you can truly save. My last trip I paid -$0.36 out of pocket. WHOO HOO!! I’m very stocked up on Toothpaste, shampoo and Palmolive. Yay!
I know many people who do really well with CVS and the reward card there, good job lady!
I gave you an award on my blog
