My 2 Week Menu
Meal Ideas — By Dr. Mommy on October 26, 2008 at 9:17 pm
We have saved a lot of money by planning our meals and writing out our shopping lists accordingly. I am a coupon queen, so I always carry my coupons along for extra savings. With that said, here I share my 2 week menu:
Week 1
Sunday: Baked Whole Chicken (2) with roasted potatoes and veggies
Monday: Corny Chicken Wraps w/salad (we use the chicken baked the night before)
Tuesday: Bacon Cheeseburger Pasta w/garlic bread
Wednesday: Homemade Pizza
Thursday: Take-out Thursday
Friday: Chicken and Spinach Risotto w/salad
Saturday: Farfalle w/sausage, peas and mushrooms
Week 2
Sunday: Picadillo w/ white rice
Monday: Taco Night
Tuesday: Spinach Lasagna Rolls-ups w/breadsticks
Wednesday: Beef Stew w/white rice
Thursday: Take-out Thursday
Friday: Linguine and Clam Sauce w/sun dried tomatoes
Saturday: Smothered Pork Chops and Homemade Mac-n-Cheese
It takes me approximately 2 hours to determine the menu, grocery list and match the coupons and determine which stores we would tackle. Then I give my hubby a list and I take a list and within 2 hours we are home and packing away our groceries.
Now will you take the challenge and shop for 2 weeks at a time? It is difficult at first but once you get used to it you would not have it any other way. With a family of 7 we always have to have our pantry stocked and doing this twice a month is wise and a great money saving tip.
The Chronicles continue…

Love the shopping every two weeks – I actually do a “big” shop once a month and then just pick up perishables in between. But with 7 that may be difficult to do!
Please do share your recipes – sounds like a delish menu – do you have room for guests?
Thanks for sharing!
I only do about a week at a time, and very informally. By this, I mean I have a freezer stocked up with frozen veggies and meats and then I pick and choose from what’s in the freezer. I stock up on sales and plan around that. Love your menu though–I haven’t done lasagna roll ups in a while!
I used to shop every other week, but I started running out of ideas for my menu so I have been on weekly and I am hating doing it so frequently.
Thanks for sharing!
This week was the first week I shopped for two weeks. I loved it and actually saved money (even with diapers, wipes, pull ups and 20 containers of baby food)!
We actually changed up our menu a few night already so we’ll have more than 2 weeks worth of dinners! Yayy!
