Rainy Day Blues
Children — By Dr. Mommy on June 21, 2008 at 5:58 pmRainy days can get dark and gloomy but we like to take advantage of the rain and play in the puddles. My kiddos love to play in the rain and of course, the messier the better.
My kiddos also love to do crafty projects on rainy days, some of those include:
- Finger painting – we have lots of artwork hanging in our ‘classroom’
- Board games – our favorite is Sorry and Scene it – Disney
- Making homemade play dough – made with flour, salt, water, vegetable oil, cream of tartar and food coloring
- Baking – we love to make home made cookies and decorating with frosting and sprinkles
- Making friendship bracelets to share with friends
Other than crafty projects, we love to read and act out stories. My kids are little actors and can put some of the highest paid actors to shame. Well, maybe not but I like to think so.
Another family favorite is Rock Band Special Edition. We can play as a family and practice our musical talents. We are not bad actually, but don’t give the microphone to my middle daughter who tends to make the dogs howl. Sad, but true..she is much better on the guitar.
Our family loves video games and one of my kid’s favorites is Cooking Mama: Cook Off on the Wii
. Not only are they playing but they are learning as well, it’s one of those fun educational games. And we love bowling, and baseball as well. Just remember to attach the wrist band of the controller to your wrist. The controllers tend to fly out of your hands and may accidentally crack your big screen tv, um yeah, it happens.
At last but not least we love to take warm baths by candle light. Yes, my family pretends that our power is out and we have gone back to ‘Little House on the Prairie’ times. We light candles throughout the house, take warm baths, and then tell ghost stories.
Rainy days don’t have to be boring and dull, make the best of the day and enjoy your time with your family.
The Chronicles continue….

Awesome post. I love your suggestions for rainy-day fun. We have a Wii and I’ve never heard of ‘Cooking Mama‘ before. Boy that looks fun!
